>Area rugs facilitate many different objectives.  In addition, fortunately enough, purple rugs are back and coming full force, for good reason.  The color purple has a long, drawn out history, from lavender, orchid and lilac to Cleopatra and in more modern terms, the “purple heart.”  It is no wonder that purple is forging its way into interior design.  Becoming one of the most popular trends as of early spring this year, purple area rugs and walls have paved the ground for a permanent wave of use.

Purple is a delicate mixture of two very powerful colors, blue and red.  Blue is a cool color often associated with calming.  Red is a hot color linked to intense passion or violence.  Melding these two colors created an interesting mixture of calming yet intensity.  Not surprisingly, purple has often been used to communicate royalty.

Purple rugs are popping up all over the retail scenes creating several new styles.  Anyone from Chandra Rugs to Nourison and beyond, have found use in the worthy color purple.  Using the color correctly will suitably illustrate the feeling you are trying to create in room. In addition, any range of feelings can be created with the multi-faceted color.  The wonderful thing about purple is that it can be portrayed as a cool color or a warm color depending on the degree of red or blue added.

There are many technologies for the use of purple.  For example, use a warmer more luxurious purple, with more of the intense red to enhance a room’s regality.  Playing on what Cleopatra realized ages ago deep purple could go a long way toward representing royalty and the feelings of a noble sentiment.  A large purple rug underneath a formal dining room set will accurately represent a meaning of stature, confidence and majesty.  This feeling is great for any person with a knack for entertaining.  Entertainers and guests alike will feel special for the grandiose company they are in.

Oppositely, a cooler, lighter purple with more of the calming aspects of the blue will enhance the mood of serenity of peace and nature.  An escape room such as a bedroom or bathroom is the perfect place for a soothing purple rug.  The color acts as a relaxant, giving off a spa-like or wildflower field, feeling.  This is also great in a child’s room.  It can help reduce stress in a child with a mind full of new and unexplored adventures allowing for sleep.

However, you chose to use purple rugs, be careful to weigh the pros and cons of each of the different kinds of purple and avoid using too much in a small area, for purple in too high of doses can cause moodiness.  A dash of purple has many great qualities and can fill a missing niche in every person’s house.  Used correctly, regal luxury or serene contentment can be created.
